We picked Sunriser up at La Rochelle.

From there we had the maiden voyage, better known as shakedown cruise, for Sunriser. We started with a trip of three days and two nights until we reached Guernsey 19th April at night.

The boat behaved perfectly, but our newly installed 48 Volt system stopped working and during the following days and later weeks we spent searching the cause, negotiating with the supplier and the installer, but could not fix it ourselves. (later note: it was fixed when we were in the Netherlands).

With the help of Maurice everything went fine on our maiden voyage and we sailed back into France in Cherbourg where we were welcomed by the resident dolphins.

We stayed 12 days in Cherbourg where we had drinks with Mats and Ava, one of the youtubers we follow. We continued our trip to the Netherlands. We were still waiting for the first uneventful trip, and it was looking promising. But between Nieuwpoort and Oostende a military patrol boat came alongside, telling us we were entering a firing range, ordered to stay 5 miles out the coast. Totally not the direction we were going to. We could continue without being shot.

The last part we needed to go through 3 locks, and because of the width and mastheight this means between the freight barges. A new experience and unfortunately we made our first scratch on the boat.

We moored safely in Dintelmond where we will spent the next months in making Sunriser even more to our wishes.
